Mustang Project

We are restoring a Ford mustang and this is the journey of the endeavor.

A Dream in its Beginning

My husband from before meeting me, had the dream of owning and driving a 1965-1970 Ford Mustang. While living in The Netherlands he purchased an engine from a private seller in the area of north eastern Netherlands. He drove a family friends van out to the farm country and the seller loaded the engine into the van with his tractor. This 5.0ho engine came from a 1993 Ford Thunderbird. He started to restore the engine. This entailed having a local shop bore the cylinders larger and polish the crank shaft among some other small details. Then he installed new pistons, painted the engine components and much more. Lots of time and work went into restoring the engine. From what he told me and from what I saw it was a whole lot of cleaning parts. This was happening before and while we were dating and he even had me ship parts to him. This was caused by the post office being closed due to a holiday right when he was leaving and he couldn't get it shipped in time. When his move to America came time he used a freight company to pick up his tightly package personal effects with the engine and ship as cargo to deliver to my parents house. It was stored in their garage for some time. He designed and made an engine stand with the help of his dad prior to the move to help it be a little safer and easy to move in shipment and storage. Everything came over okay and has went from one storage area to the next. Right now it sits still on that engine stand in our shop waiting to be tested and installed.
